Applications are open for affordable homes
MADRA has been advised that rental applications are now open for some of the affordable housing that has recently been completed in Mallacoota.
Homes Victoria affordable housing creates an alternative to the private rental market to help low to moderate income Victorian renters access high quality housing at an affordable rent. The properties can be viewed online and applied for at: https://app.snug.com/apply/varc
To make the application process fairer, a ballot system is used. If you are successfully drawn from the ballot, you will be required within 2 days to provide proof of your eligibility in the form of recent payslips, identification and visa status. If the checklist determines that you are unsuccessful, you will not progress to apply for a Homes Victoria affordable home.

GIVIT helps the Tool Library
MADRA is very happy to report that we've been able to help the Mallacoota and District Tool Library receive some donations from GIVIT to fund some essential items and new tools and equipment. The Tool Library is a fantastic local initiative run by a dedicated team of volunteers, and they are expanding their services all the time. The GIVIT donations are worth around $14,000 - an enormous benefit to the Tool Library and the Mallacoota and District community.
Many thanks to GIVIT, and well done MADTL team!
Congratulations to the Wilderness Collective!
How good is it to hear the news that the Wilderness Collective has been able to purchase the premises at 56 Maurice Avenue? The MADRA Committee is absolutely delighted with this news.
The Wilderness Collective is a another fantastic initiative that emerged in the wake of the Black Summer bushfires. The incredible team there is on a mission to reshape Mallacoota’s future - and we have no doubt they will succeed! They are already doing so much to make their vision of a thriving, self-sufficient town come to life. Many congratulations to all of the team who have worked so hard to raise the funds for the building purchase. MADRA is one of many groups and individuals who helped out with the funding, and we are confident that this is an investment in a better and brighter future for us all.
Thanks,
MADRA
